Admission to Beijing Normal University 2010

Founded in 1902, Beijing Normal University (BNU) is one of China ’s earliest-established institutions of higher learning as well as one of the key universities in the country. At present, BNU has 24 schools, 2 departments, 20 research institutes and a number of research centers. BNU offers 55 undergraduate programs and has the rights to confer Master’s degrees in 157 disciplines and Doctorates in 95. It also has 18 post-doctoral research centers. In the year of 2008, BNU ranked as the 8th best among the universities and colleges in China . In the 2009 subject evaluation undertaken by the Degree Centre of the Ministry of Education, the subjects of Chinese Language and Literature, Education, and Psychology were rated as being the best subjects in China; Geography and System science were 2nd best; History, Economics, and Fine Arts were also among the top subjects.

In BNU, there is a large student body including over 8,000 undergraduates, over 8,000 graduate students, over 10,000 undergraduate and diploma students for adult education, and more than 2,000 long-term international students. BNU has a modernized library with a collection of 3,500,000 books, and 117 scientific laboratories.

BNU began to accept students from abroad in 1965. Over the years, BNU has accumulated rich experience with the Chinese language program and major-related courses for international students. In recent years, BNU has become well-known all around the world, and welcomes an increasing number of international students into all of its schools and departments. Moreover, all of the schools, departments and institutes of BNU welcome international scholars to visit BNU to carry out research.
