Admission to Tsinghua University 2010

Tsinghua University is located in the District of Haidian, northwestern of Beijing. It is established on the site of “Qing Hua Yuan”—a former royal garden of Qing Dynasty, in which “Shui Mu Qing Hua” has a long history of reputation.

Tsinghua University is one of the leading universities directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education in China, and is also among the list of the Key Universities in both the National Projects 985 and 211. “Qinghua XueTang”, the predecessor of Tsinghua University, was founded in 1911. In 1952, Tsinghua University became a multidisciplinary polytechnic university with an emphasis on education of engineers. Since 1978, Tsinghua University has gradually grown into a comprehensive university again.

Tsinghua University is one of the most prestigious universities with the greatest strengths in China. As a prominent center for higher education and scientific research, it holds the largest numbers of academicians affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, of the top disciplines on the whole, of the Key National Laboratories, of national awards in science and technology, of research funds, and also of articles indexed in SCI, EI and ISTP over the years. More than 70% of the Top 10 students of sciences from the provinces in the National College Entrance Examination in China have chosen Tsinghua University for their further study. The University’s admission scores for students of arts also come up to top among most of the provinces in China.
