Jining Medical College

Jining Medical University, owned and operated by the Shandong Province government, was founded in 1952. In 1997, the university passed the evaluation of qualified undergraduate teaching work and in 2008 it passed the evaluation of undergraduate teaching working level made by Educational Ministry of China. It has two campuses, namely, Jining and Rizhao. Jining is a city of ancient China, noted for its beauty and also as the hometown of Confucius and Mencius. Rizhao City is on the Yellow Sea and has the reputation of being the “Hawaii in the East".

The area of the two campuses is 798067.8 square meters, including teaching and administrative building 156544.62 square meters and student dormitory 95462 square meters.

The total property of the university is 644 million RMB. The total value of the teaching apparatus and equipment is 74 million RMB. The school library houses a collection of over 1 million 500 thousand books. The university has 102 teaching bases, including 1 affiliated hospital and 9 non-affiliated hospitals.

The university now has 902 staff, including 580 full-time teachers (54 professors and 121 associate professors).

The university recruits students from 14 provinces of China. It has 12835 full-time students. Among them, there are 11287 undergraduate students and 1548 junior Students.

The university now has 8 schools: School of Clinical Medicine, School of Basic Medicine, School of Public Health, School of Nursing, School of Mental Health, School of Pharmacy, School of Information Engineering and School of Continuing Education.

The university has 17 majors: Clinical Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Psychiatry and Mental Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Stomatology, Clinical Medicine of Traditional and Western Medicine, Medical Testing, Medical Radiology, Computer Science and Technology, Information Management and Information System, Applied Psychology, Human Resources Management, Work and Social Security, Market Sale and Recovery Treatment.

Now the university has 4 province-level key majors——Pathology and Physiology, Neurology, Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and treatment, Internal Neurology; one province-level major——Preventive Medicine, and one province-level reform major——Clinical Medicine.

The university now has 22 institutes: including Behavioral Medicine Education Institute, etc.. It also has 4 province-level key majors and labs of Shandong province “Tenth Five-Year Plan”: Pathology and Physiology, Behavior Medicine Lab, Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Lab. Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment and Psychiatry are key subjects of medical health in Shandong Province. In the past 3 years, the university has got 180 new science research programs and obtains all-level research funds 6997000 RMB.1065 academic articles have been published, 42 of them are kept by SCI, EI and CA. The chief editors of 50 academic works are the university teachers. The Behavior Medicine Branch of Chinese Medicine Committee and Shandong Behavior Medicine Committee are linked up with the university. Professors of the university hold the post of The Behavior Medicine Branch of Chinese Medicine Committee and Shandong Behavior Medicine Committee. The university hosts the key periodical of China —— and <> —— they are published home and abroad.

The university has sent several delegations to Korea, Japan, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Sweden and Hong Kong, Macao to make friendly visit and academic exchange. It has built cooperation with more than 10 universities and research institutes. Above 30 worlds famous experts and scholars have been invited to the college to give lectures. The college engages 2-3 foreign experts as teachers each year.
