The 20 Master’s programs and 20 bachelor programs offered by our university cover the fields of medical science, engineering, science, arts, management and economics. There are 2 key disciplines as accredited by the State Administration of TCM and 10 provincial level leading disciplines in medical science. The University owns 8 national or provincial level scientific research platforms including a national engineering research center, a key laboratory under Ministry of Education and a postdoctoral working station. Our university also acts as the mainstay for the construction and implementation of National TCM Modernized Science and Technological Industrial (Jiangxi) Base and National TCM Standardized Planting (Jiangxi) Base.
Over the 50 years since its founding, our university has achieved remarkable success and created many records in the history of Jiangxi higher education: to name a few, JXUTCM founded and developed famous Jiangzhong Pharmaceutical Group Cooperation, of which the contribution to the local economy ranks first among all the university-affiliated factories province wide; Our university is not only the largest TCM school in China but also recognized to be the most ecological friendly university; The National Pharmaceutical Engineering Center For Solid Preparation of Chinese Herbal Medicine is the first national-level research center established by higher learning institutes in Jiangxi province; Sophoridine Injection developed by our university is the only class one chemical drug ever created by Chinese TCM universities, which is marked as a technical breakthrough; Moxibustion Therapy with Acupoint Heat-Sensitization invented by our university is recognized as the best nationwide. People are saying that “If you want to learn acupuncture, you should come to Tianjin in the north, if you want to learn Moxibustion, you should come to Jiangxi in the south”.
International Education College, formerly the Department of International Exchange, was founded in February, 2002. It shoulders such responsibilities as the enrollment, education and management of international students and students from Hongkong, Taiwan and Macao; Sino-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools and English training; recruitment and management of foreign experts and other foreign affairs. These responsibilities are respectively carried out by three departments, namely College Office, Department of Teaching Affairs and Department of International Students .
Jiangxi University of TCM is designated by the State Education Ministry as one of the first 200 higher learning institutes eligible for the enrollment of students from foreign countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Currently, the International Education College has 565 full-time students from foreign countries and Taiwan and Hong Kong, by far the largest number province wide. Each year we accept an estimated 100 short-term trainees from abroad. We have established collaborative bachelor programs in TCM with the colleges and universities in Sweden, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and have developed friendly and cooperative relations with medical and educational institutions in over 20 countries and regions.
Guided by the principles of mutual exchange, the university has been actively involved in international academic exchanges and other cooperative efforts. The college is dedicated to the Sino-foreign Cooperation in Running School by establishing cooperative relations with the following universities and colleges: Hungkuang University, TAFENSW-Western Sydney Institute, Sydney University, Thomas University, USA and Far Eastern University, Philippine. With the joint efforts of our University and Hongkong TCM Science and Technology Institute, we successfully obtained the accreditation from the State Education Ministry for Bachelor Programs in TCM and Chinese Materia Medica in Hongkong and set up a Teaching Center in July, 2003, the first of its kind for all the TCM Universities and Colleges in Mainland China. The first batch of students have already begun their studies in this center. Accordingly, we are also initiating a series of training programs for those having desires to further their studies abroad, e.g. IELTS training and English Trainning for nurses planning to study and work abroad. Since 1994 our university has begun to undertake the entire teaching and medical training assignment in Tunisia International Acupuncture Training Center. Teachers and doctors sent to work there are highly spoken of by large number of local patients, especially by the President of Tunisia and his wife as well for their superb medical skills. Until now our university has trained hundreds of local acupuncturist for Tunisia.
Through years of practice, International Education College is experienced in teaching the international students in different foreign languages including English, French and Korean. Advanced Tele-education combined with multimedia has also been adopted in teaching, attracting more and more students from all over the world to choose Jiangxi University of TCM as a higher learning institute to enrich their expertise in the field of TCM.
