Zhejiang University of Media and Communications is a forward-looking, modern university with an outstanding reputation as a provider of education and training in TV, film and other media. Much has changed since 1984 when the University was first established, and we have made great strides in our development as an institution --- particularly over the last ten years.

Zhejiang University of Media and Communications is situated in Hangzhou , the capital city of Zhejiang Province , known to the Chinese people as “ Paradise on Earth”. With a floor space of 406.4 thousand square meters, the University has over 700 staff and 9000 full-time students on campus this academic year. University is comprised of 8 schools and 2 departments:

• School of Media Management
• School of Film & Television Art
• School of International Cultures & Communications
• School of Electronics and Information Engineering
• School of Music & Dance
• School of Media Arts & Design
• Department of Social Sciences and Humanities
• School of Chinese Announcing & Anchoring

The University provides excellent resources to assist our students in their studies. The University multi-functional library has a collection of approximately 650,000 books on various subjects, over 20,000 CDs, tapes and cassettes of audio-visual materials for teaching and learning. The University is also well equipped with advanced teaching and experimental facilities that create and guarantee our students a professionally efficient and people-friendly learning environment. The 40 labs range from virtual broadcasting labs, non-linear editing labs, audio-video labs to MIDI Production labs. The newly completed 22-storey multi-functional Media Tower , at an investment of over 130 million yuan RMB, houses 17 broadcasting studios of various sizes and has become now a production base for broadcasting programmes, teaching/research activities and social service.

Recent years of rapid development is marked by constructive cooperation with many overseas partners. This has brought about new ideas and modes of management and in particular, a broad space for teaching and research and has provided our students with wider choices upon entering and graduating from our university.

The University has witnessed the dramatic changes that have taken part in China over the past 30 years and has benefited together with her students. Continuing efforts shall be made to adhere to the general guidelines we set for ourselves: to provide an excellent venue as well as home for our teachers to enjoying teaching, for our domestic and international students to enjoy learning.
