Changchun Taxation College is a comprehensive financial college, which welcomes to the students all over the country. Besides the undergraduate education, it offers a variety of programs. It now has graduate program, adult higher, training program for the professionals and collaboration programs with foreign colleges. The college boasts six disciplinary areas covering thirty-two academic disciplines for undergraduates, including economics, management, law, science, engineering and arts. Among which it has six provincial key disciplines, and twenty for the postgraduate.
Changchun Taxation College has now nineteen teaching departments, including ten scientific research centers, such as Jilin economics research center, and economics simulation research institute etc. The college boasts a qualified faculty of over 427 full-time teachers, including 235 full professors and associate professors, and 74 doctors. One of them enjoys the special subsidy from the State Council, one is trans-century talent for the Ministry of Education, three are senior specialists of Jilin province, and four are top class talents of Jilin province.
Changchun Taxation College now has an enrollment of 8,360 full-time undergraduates, 423 postgraduates. Another over 8000 are studying at the schools of Continuing Education. The high school graduates are taken in Changchun Taxation College programs primarily on the basis of their performance in the National Entrance Exam. After four academic years, more than 90% of the undergraduates can be employed. Changchun Taxation College has cultivated more than 200,000 professionals in finance and economics during the past 60 years, and most of whom have proved to be backbones in their careers. Some have been the leading cadres of government service, and some have become the key members of the leadership of the enterprises and institutions, still some have become talents in academics. Among the seven vice governors of Jilin province, two of them graduated from Changchun Taxation College.
There is strong academic atmosphere in the college: Recently the college has assumed 167 national, ministerial or provincial scientific research projects, published 156 books, edited or co-edited 30 published textbooks directed by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, and state Bureau of Taxation, and 1,800 academic papers in core magazines. 296 achievements in scientific research won provincial (ministerial) level and above awards. “Modern Economics Research”, co-edited with China research association of “Capital”, and journal “Taxation and Economics” have become core periodicals in economics in China.
Changchun Taxation College library claims a collection of 700,000 volumes, and each year more than 1400 periodicals at home and abroad are subscribed. The college established 46 well-equipped laboratories, including the ERP teaching laboratory, electronic commerce laboratory, computer compositional theory laboratory, computer software laboratory, accounting computerization laboratory, taxation simulation laboratory, banking business simulation laboratory, and international trade simulation laboratory. And some software systems for practical teaching, such as Shihua digital satellite system for market quotation data and CTIAS are built too.
Changchun Taxation College has established worldwide exchange and intercollegiate collaboration relationship with many universities, where are Atlantic University of U.S.A, Yang Cheng University, the university of Regina, Canada, the University of New South Walse, and Charles Sturt University in Australia, Taxation College of France，École Supérieure Des Sciences Commerciales d’Angers，Far-east Commercial College of Russia, Waseda University, Teikyo University, Tokyo Management College, Tokyo Taxation College, Korean National Taxation College, Kangnam University, Cheongju University, and Seoul National University. And the collaboration with Charles Sturt University has been ratified as the first batch of the international cooperation program by the State Council. “People Daily” has reported the cooperation experience under the title “the first college cultivating economic commerce talent”.
As a basement of training taxation leaders, Changchun Taxation College has educated almost 3000 of them recently. Even nearly 100 high ranking leaders in the present taxation department have had classes here.
Changchun Taxation College moved to Jingyuetan Economics Development District in 2005. The new campus is located near the mountains and rivers. It covers an area of 1,100,000 square meters with the built-up area of 220,000 square meters, among which the teaching building makes up 36,000 square meters, and 10,000 students can have classes at the same time. The college library designed for 1,300,000 books covers 26,000 square meters. The library buildings hold over 4000 seats altogether. The building for laboratories covers an area of 160,000 square meters, which holds nearly 30 laboratories. And other major buildings include: the dormitories, 100,000 square meters, 15,000 for the dining halls.
Goal: to build a college which is getting established in proper scale, reasonable structure with high-quality education, to develop the college by distinguishable features, to show national influence in China, and to be the top class multi-disciplinary finance and economics college.
