
1. Introduction
China Agricultural University now offers 136 Master’s and 71 Doctoral programs to international students. Master’s programs are usually completed in 2-3 years, and Doctoral programs 3-4 years. Certificates of degrees and graduation will be awarded to those complete the entire course work and passing thesis/dissertation defense.
2. Qualification of Applicants
(1) Applicants for Master's programs should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic background.
(2) Applicants for Doctoral programs should have a Master's degree or equivalent academic background.
(3) Language skills requirements:
(a) For programs taught in Chinese: Applicants should pass Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 3.
(b) For Programs offered in English: See the requirements of the program.
(c) For Doctor Program applicant: If English is sufficient, the Chinese language requirement could be adjusted for some majors.
The qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS). Applicants should apply to China Scholarship Council (CSC) through the governmental departments of overseas study affairs, the related organizations, or Chinese embassies, in the home countries of the applicants. Also apply to CAU directly. The applicants who are not able to get CGS support may apply to China Agricultural University for Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS), by submitting the Application Form for Beijing Government Scholarship.
3. Materials for Application
(1) The completed Foreigner's Application Form for Admission to Graduate Programs of China Agricultural University, signed by the applicant, original and duplicated;
(2) The original or the notarized photocopies of degree certificate or proof of education in academic institution, and academic transcript, original and duplicated;
(3) HSK band 3 score report or the notarized photocopy (unless a waiver is approved or Master's Programs offered in English);
(4) Two academic recommendation letters from scholars of associate professorship or higher;
(5) Two copies of the page with personal information the passport (ordinary passport);
(6) Three copies of applicant's recent photo (cap-free, 2 inches);
(7) Non-refundable application fee of RMB400 payable to China Agricultural University;
(8) The completed Application Form for Beijing Government Scholarship (if any).
The certificates provided should be the original documents in Chinese or in English, otherwise notarized translations in Chinese or English are required.
4. Application Procedure
The applicants shall submit the signed hardcopy of The Application Form, together with other application materials to Office of International Relations, China Agricultural University, by post mail or in person.
For applicants of Master’s programs offered in English.
5. Application Deadline
Graduate programs: April 30, 2010.
The application deadline for Scholarships is on January 5 of 2010.
Applications should be completed and the package should be received by the deadline.
6. Review and Examination
The applicants for graduates should pass the review of CAU, and Interview may also be requested by some department/schools. Students, with excellent performance both in conduct and study who have finished one level of study in China and continue to pursue a higher level degree study in China, can be enrolled by CAU without enrollment examinations or tests.
7. Inquiry and Admission Notice
The applicants will be admitted after they pass the examinations or interviews. Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202 Form), and Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners will be issued in early July 2010. Prior to this, the applicants may inquire for admission status via on the website of Office of International University.
8. Visa Application and Admission Registration
The admitted applicants should bring their Passport, Admission Notice, Visa Application Form (JW202 or JW201), and Original copy of Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners as well as other original documents of physical examination to the Embassy or Consulate of the People's Republic of China, and apply for a student visa (X visa). In autumn 2010, the students shall come to Office of International University, China Agricultural University for admission registration before the deadline indicated on the Admission Notice. The X visa holders must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days after arriving in China.
