1. Introduction
Foreign students who are willing to take courses or do research at Sichuan University as a visiting student may apply to Overseas Student Office, Sichuan University.
The schooling system for visiting students ranges from 1 semester to 2 years. A non-degree certificate of advanced study will be awarded if the visiting student successfully finishes his/her study at Sichuan University. Official transcripts are also available upon request.
2. Qualification of Applicants
General Visiting Students: at least one year study at college or higher, HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Band Six or above
Senior Visiting Students: Master degree or higher, HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Band Six or above.
3. Materials for Application
(1) The completed Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China
of Sichuan University
(2) Original or notarized copy of final schooling certificate and schooling records
(3) Certificate of HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Band Six or above
(4) A copy of the applicant’s passport with photo page
(5) Recommendation letters from two scholars of associate professorship or higher for applicants of Senior Visiting Students Program
The certificates provided should be the original documents in Chinese or in English, otherwise notarized translations in Chinese or English are required.
4. Application Procedure
Step 1: Download Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China form. Complete it, print and sign two hard copies of the Application Form .
Step 2: Submit the application materials listed above to Overseas Student Office, Sichuan University, by post mail or in person.
5. Review and Admission Notice
The application materials will be reviewed and examined by the Overseas Student Office and the Admission Committee of the department concerned. Once approved, the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Foreigners (JW202) will be issued in early January for spring program or early July for autumn program. The applicants may inquire for admission status via the On-line Application System on the website of Overseas Student Office.
6. Visa Application and Admission Registration
The admitted students should bring their Passport, Admission Notice, Visa Application Form (JW202), and Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners as well as Blood Test Record to the Embassy or Consulate of the People’s Republic of China, and apply for a student visa (X visa). In early September the students shall come to Foreign Student Affairs Office, Sichuan University for admission registration before the deadline indicated on the Admission Notice. The X visa holders must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days after arriving in China.
